![]() ![]() In March, choreographer Cathy Marston, who often interprets great books, had its world premiere of Summer and Smoke, a reinterpretation of the Tennessee Williams play by the Houston Ballet, a production with the American Ballet Theatre. ![]() This will be followed by Scottish Ballet’s Helen Pickett choreographed production of Arthur Miller’s play ‘The Crucible’ at the Arts Center from 24-28 May.Įlsewhere in the country, ballets pirouette from the side. The 2019 production, starring the Australian Ballet, comes to the Kennedy Center April 5-9. The Joffrey Ballet has pitched “Anna Karenina” for choreographer Yuri Possokhov’s adaptation of Leo Tolstoy’s 1870s masterpiece. Call it ballet for the book club crowd: this spring’s library booths feature ballets based on literature, including two at the Kennedy Center. ![]()
